Another New Container

I got this at the dollar store, and while it's a cute container (it looks like a Leggo block) it's way too big for the appetite of my little one. Also - although it didn't occur to me in my groggy, newly-awake state - this really could use more fresh produce and less plastic visible, even if it's a pretty shade of blue.

We have: cucumber flowers (needs work, that), a single huge strawberry, red grapes, carrots, and mini bagel slices with peanut butter and raisins.

Starfruit!

Finally, a real bento box! From top left, heading clockwise: cup of shrimp marinated overnight in lime juice, chili powder and olive oil; cup of avocado and tomato dice marinated in the same; both are topped with starfruit slices and surrounded by red grapes. Bottom has a cup of sesame sticks, more starfruit slices and fresh sugar snaps.

Overnight Spicy Salad Marinade

Juice of 1 fresh lime plus
1 teaspoon fresh grated zest
Juice of 1 fresh lemon plus
1 teaspoon fresh grated zest
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch of oregano

Combine all ingredients and toss with your salad ingredients. It is best to store in a plastic zip-up bag, all air pressed out, for best marinade coverage. Store in refrigerator overnight; drain well before serving or packing into lunch.
